Competition awards

This is the 13th edition of the Leica Street Photo competition. From the very beginning, it was created out of passion for street photography, in which the Leica brand has had a huge contribution. It was the German manufacturer that brought cameras to the streets of cities. The small, pocket-sized design invented and built by Oskar Barnack revolutionized the way we describe the world through photography. We are happy to be a part of this history and to have our own contribution to the promotion of street photography in Poland and around the world.

As organizers of the competition, we are extremely proud of its level, which is getting higher every year. That is why we decided to increase the number of finalists to thirty in this edition. This year, the competition received over 10,000 photographs from 102 countries. The jury faced an incredibly difficult task. Among the submitted works were photographs of diverse themes and styles. They show the everyday life of people, their emotions, human relationships, and the world around them.

“I am glad that the selection is not homogeneous. The street photography that we promote through the Leica Street Photo competition is primarily humanist photography. Putting man and his everyday life at the center of events. Capturing the fleeting moments that are sometimes moving, sometimes intriguing, and sometimes just funny. In this year’s edition, we have photographs that are a kind of tribute to the classics of this type of photography such as Joel Meyerowitz, Saul Leiter or Eliott Erwitt,” says Patryk Wiśniewski, a juror on behalf of Leica Camera Poland.

The finalists’ exhibition is a summary of the 13th Leica Street Photo. Here you will see the best street photographs from around the world, in the opinion of the jury. We wish you a good time and invite you to Vienna, where on March 7, the winner of the Grand Prix will be announced, which in this edition is the Leica Q3 camera.
